FIVE FOOT TWO, EYES OF BLUE

“Five Foot Two, Eyes of Blue” is an American popular song written by Sam M. Lewis, Joseph Widow Young, and Ray Henderson in 1925. The song endures as a representation of 1920s culture, with the lyrics describing a flapper. The term flapper referred to a young, independent woman who embraced freedom and breaking the rules during the Prohibition era. Their lifestyle at the time was viewed as outrageous or immoral with flappers smoking in public, drinking alcohol, and dancing at jazz clubs.

SELF-CARE TIPS

Learn About and Consider Using Humming to Decrease Stress

Humming is a good self-care tool that can help decrease feelings of anxiety and increase feelings of calm. Try humming one of the tunes listed above, or any song that you know or love. Even a few notes of it. Or even one note. Try saying, "I don't know what to hum" and then hold out your last word hum. Voila! You have a note to hum! Notice your stress level before you hum. Give it a number between 1-10. Then hum a note or few notes or whole tune for a few minutes. Check back in with your stress level. Is your 1-10 number lower? Often times, people find that their stress number lowers after just a few minutes of humming! This is a FREE tool that you have available to you at all times.

What did you notice? How did it feel to you? How did it change the mood of the moment?
