TOO RA LOO RAL (THAT’S AN IRISH LULLABY)

“Too Ra Loo Ral (That’s An Irish Lullaby)” is an Irish American song written by James Royce Shannon in 1913 for Shameen Dhu, a Tin Pan Alley musical. Only the chorus is included here, but there are additional verses in which the singer nostalgically reflects on their mother comforting them as a child.

  • Is this melody familiar to you?

  • Are the words familiar?

  • Did you find yourself humming along?

  • How did it affect you? Did your awareness change? Your breath? Your focus? Your mood?

  • Would you feel comfortable playing this in the background and allow yourself to hum or sing along? By yourself and/or with the one(s) you care for?

Too Ra Loo Ral Here is Connie Francis’ version. I hope you enjoy it!

Did you know that our feelings and emotions happen in our bodies? When we use movement to express them, they can release and not get stuck. Here is a fun video that shows us how to honor our feelings and let them go, through the simple act of movement.

You can help honor your feelings and then release them through movement. If you give this a try along with the video, let us know how it was for you at [email protected]
